Brighter Smiles for Brighter Futures:
Brighter Smiles for Brighter Futures has raised over $640,000 for cancer initiatives since 2001 in the Gwinnett County area. Since 2004, monies raised have been used to improve women’s access to advanced breast cancer diagnostics through the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation’s Time Matters in the Fight Against Breast Cancer Campaign. Over $520,000 has been raised thus far for this effort.
During the 2008 campaign, monies raised will go toward the purchase of a new Ultrasound Imaging Device which will further improve the ability to detect breast cancer. The cost of the Ultrasound is $115,000. Any additional monies will go towards improving the comfort of the patients who are treated at the Medical Center’s Woman’s Pavilion and the Duluth Mammography Center.
Brighter Smiles for Brighter Futures,is a tooth whitening program in which the patient makes a $250 donation to the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation (which is a 501c3 organization) plus a $50 kit fee to cover the cost of the bleaching materials. The volunteer dentists then provide professional home tray bleaching materials to the patient along with a complimentary screening exam. This exam is not a complete exam, and is used only to determine if the patient is a candidate for bleaching.
Your payment will go directly to the hospital foundation, either by check or credit card. Gift certificates are available from participating offices. The $250 donation is tax deductable, but you should contact your tax advisor. The participating dentists do not charge for bleaching while they are participating, so there is no taxable service provided. To participate, contact the participating dentist closest to you. The participating are listed on the Participating Dentists page which you can access by clicking here. If your dentist does not participate in the effort, please encourage him or her to do so.
